The 1917 Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter represents the first year of issue for one of the most celebrated designs in American coinage. Sculpted by Hermon Atkins MacNeil, the obverse features Liberty striding forward through a gateway, shield in hand, while the reverse displays a flying eagle surrounded by stars. The Type 1 designation distinguishes this early version, which shows Liberty's figure in its original design configuration. This example grades VG-8, a circulated grade that reflects honest, genuine use and still presents the bold design elements that make this series a favorite among type collectors and early 20th-century American coin enthusiasts.
Coin Grading is Subjective, and should be treated as an opinion of grade. We use ANA Grading Standards as our Reference.
