The 1904-S $20 Gold Liberty is a classic large-format American gold coin struck at the San Francisco Mint. This example has been graded AU58 by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), placing it at the top of the About Uncirculated range with only the slightest traces of wear on the high points and strong underlying luster. The $20 Liberty — also known as the Liberty Head Double Eagle — features Christian Gobrecht's portrait of Liberty on the obverse and a heraldic eagle on the reverse, a design that circulated from 1849 through 1907. At this grade level, the coin retains most of its original mint brilliance and presents an attractive, collectible example of a 19th–early 20th century U.S. gold issue.
