This Classic Head Cent, struck between 1808 and 1814, represents one of the most distinctive early American copper coinage designs. The Classic Head style, engraved by John Reich, features Liberty facing left wearing a headband inscribed LIBERTY, surrounded by stars — a bold departure from the earlier Draped and Capped Bust designs. The reverse displays the familiar wreath encircling ONE CENT with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around the periphery. These large cents are a staple of any serious early American coin collection, offering a tangible connection to the formative years of the United States Mint.
