The 1826 Coronet Head Large Cent is an early American copper coin struck during the Classic Head era of U.S. coinage. This example is die variety DG-6, making it of interest to specialists and variety collectors of early American cents. The Coronet Head design, also known as the Matron Head, was produced at the Philadelphia Mint throughout the 1810s and 1820s and features a left-facing Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed "LIBERTY," surrounded by stars, with the reverse displaying a wreath and the denomination ONE CENT. At $63, this piece represents a solid entry point into early large cent collecting.
