This 1831 Capped Bust Dime is a classic example of early American silver coinage. The Capped Bust design, engraved by John Reich and later modified by William Kneass, graced the dime from 1809 through 1837 and remains a favorite among collectors of early U.S. type coins. The obverse features Liberty wearing a cloth cap, surrounded by stars, with the date below. The reverse displays a perched eagle with a shield, arrows, and olive branch — a hallmark of the era's heraldic imagery. A natural choice for a type set or an early American silver collection.
