This 1838 Capped Bust Half Dollar grades XF, with the date 1838 clearly struck at the base of the obverse and "LIBERTY" bold across the cap. The obverse features the classic left-facing Liberty bust with flowing hair and surrounding stars, while the reverse displays the heraldic eagle with shield, olive branch, and arrows inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / HALF DOL."
