This 1840 Braided Hair Large Cent features the scarce Small Date over Large 18 overdate variety, graded VF-35. At this grade level, the coin displays moderate, even wear with clear major design elements throughout. The obverse Liberty portrait and reverse wreath retain good detail, and the legends are fully legible. A solid circulated example of this interesting overdate variety.

Coin Grading is Subjective, and should be treated as an opinion of grade. We use ANA Grading Standards as our Reference.
