1853 Arrows/Rays Seated Quarter

This 1853 Seated Liberty Quarter features the Arrows and Rays design, a one-year type struck to reflect the revised silver standard adopted that year. Arrows were added at the date to indicate the reduced weight, and rays were placed on the reverse surrounding the eagle. Both elements together make this a distinct and popular one-year type among 19th-century U.S. coinage collectors.
