This 1868 Shield Nickel is a mid-19th century five-cent piece from a formative era of American coinage. The Shield Nickel design, featuring a shield on the obverse and a numeral denomination on the reverse, represents one of the earliest five-cent coins struck in nickel composition for general circulation. The 1868 date places this example well within the series run, making it a fitting addition to a type set or a Shield Nickel collection.

Coin Grading is Subjective, and should be treated as an opinion of grade. We use ANA Grading Standards as our Reference.
