This 1875-S Trade Dollar grades XF and displays the classic obverse design of Liberty seated facing right, with the date 1875 below and the reverse inscribed "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA / 420 GRAINS. 900 FINE. / TRADE DOLLAR." The coin bears chop marks — merchant countermarks applied during circulation in Asian trade markets — which are clearly visible on the obverse and are considered an authentic part of this coin's identity as a trade piece.
