The 1883 Liberty Head "V" Nickel, No Cents variety, is a classic piece of 19th-century American coinage. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Liberty surrounded by 13 stars, with the date 1883 below. The reverse displays a large Roman numeral "V" within a wreath, with "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA" and "E PLURIBUS UNUM" encircling the design. This example is the No Cents variety, issued in the first year of the series before the word "CENTS" was added beneath the "V" on the reverse. Graded G-4, this coin presents the major design elements clearly, making it a solid representative of this first-year type for any collection of Liberty Head nickels or 19th-century U.S. coinage.
Coin Grading is Subjective, and should be treated as an opinion of grade. We use ANA Grading Standards as our Reference.
