The 1938-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar is a classic example of one of American coinage's most celebrated designs. Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty motif — depicting Lady Liberty striding forward draped in the American flag, with the sun rising behind her — graced the half dollar from 1916 through 1947 and remains a favorite among collectors of early 20th-century U.S. silver coinage. The reverse features a bold American eagle perched on a mountain crag. This example is a raw, ungraded coin from the Denver Mint issue of 1938.
