This 1948-S Jefferson Nickel has been certified by PCGS and graded MS 66, placing it among the finest survivors of this mid-century issue. The Jefferson Nickel series, introduced in 1938, features Felix Schlag's classic portrait of Thomas Jefferson on the obverse and Monticello on the reverse — a design that became a beloved staple of American coinage. An MS 66 example represents a coin with sharp strike and strong luster that has been preserved in exceptional condition since production.
